Week 1 Activist: Rosa Parks
This week, children are invited to learn about the life of Rosa Parks, an American activist who fought for civil rights.
Learn about the story of Rosa Parks and empathise with her situation; was she just tired? Or was she tired of unfairness? Showcase your learning by producing a detailed poster capturing her history and detailing her courageous act.
Go through the powerpoint with your child, and watch this educational clip about Rosa Parks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKEGou1zPII
Afterwards, allow them to choose a writing resource to show their learning on Rosa Parks.

Week 2: Activist: Malala Yousafzai
This week children will learn about the young activist Malala Yousafzai. Use the various resources below to learn all about Malala's life and her courageousness. Children can act out the story of Malala's life. They can put her story into a series of 'freeze frames'; perhaps an adult could take a picture of each 'freeze frame'. Children can also create a storyboard of Malala's life and/or as a challenge write a letter to a relative telling them all about Malala. Children could also create a news report about Malala, perhaps an adult could record them and then share with family. Happy learning Year 2!
